Right next to Gyeongbokgung is the Korean National Folklore Museum [LINK], and we had fun exploring the many exhibits on traditional dress, crafts, agriculture, music, dance, and other aspects of traditional Korean culture and rural life. Most interesting to Tom, of course, was the kimchi exhibit! It included a model depicting the communal preparation of autumn kimchi [Image 94], and a display of some of the many varieties of kimchi [Image 95]. Sure, they were plastic, but Tom's mouth was watering anyway!
Adjacent to the Gyeongbokgung/Folklore Museum grounds is the Blue House [LINK], the official residence of the President of the Republic of Korea [Image 97]. The Blue House isn't open to the public, but we stopped across the street to take a few photos and have Joe pose in front of a Buddhist drum [Image 98].
